the main problem with drinking is culture, britain has lost it's drinking culture and adopted american drinking culture i.e. binge drinking and loud noisy bars. We used to have quiet pubs were you could chat over a pint but now there just loud music, we also have lots of alcopops and shots which facilitate inebriation- it's much harder to get drunk on pints than it is on what is effectively alcoholic fruit juice and flavoured paint strippers (which are downed quickly rather than savoured.
