...made it to Indianapolis, it is still called the Ferrari Formula Indy and is on display in the Galleria, a museum in Maranello that is affiliated with the Ferrari factory and is devoted to the preservation of Ferrari race cars of all kinds. The 2.65-liter, V8 turbo engine developed in the course of this Indy project did not go to waste as it formed the basis for the Alfa Romeo engine introduced into Indy-style racing in the 1990 Indianapolis 500, as the powerplant in the March- Alfa Romeo cars owned by Pat Patrick and driven by Al Unser and Roberto Guerrero.
